Why we require strong authentication

At Nautilus Secure we protect high-value accounts and sensitive operations. Strong passwords combined with a second factor significantly reduce the risk of unauthorized access. We also monitor for unusual sign-in patterns and will prompt additional verification when needed. Keeping your contact details up to date and enabling device alerts helps speed recovery if access is ever disrupted.

Security tips and best practices

Use a password manager to generate unique, long passphrases for every service. Reusing passwords across accounts increases exposure if one site is compromised. A passphrase of three or more unrelated words is often easier to remember and more resilient than short complex passwords.

Two-factor authentication (2FA)

Enable 2FA and prefer an authenticator app or hardware security key (FIDO2/WebAuthn) over SMS. SMS can be intercepted or subject to SIM swapping attacks. Hardware keys provide cryptographic proof that greatly reduces the risk of account takeover.

Phishing and email safety

Always verify the site URL and certificate before entering credentials. Look for HTTPS and the correct domain name; avoid clicking links in unsolicited messages. If an email pressures you to act urgently, contact support directly using the official site or phone number from your account settings.

Account recovery & emergency access

Keep at least one recovery method up to date—an email address and a phone number you control. Consider registering a backup authenticator device. For business accounts, set up multiple administrators and documented recovery steps accessible to authorized personnel only.

Recognize suspicious activity

Check recent sign-in history, review connected applications, and revoke stale sessions or API keys. If you notice logins from unfamiliar locations or devices, change passwords and contact support immediately. Timely action limits damage and helps investigators.

Privacy and data handling

We minimize personal data collection to what is necessary for identity verification and account recovery. Understand what you share and how it’s used by reviewing the privacy settings and any consent prompts when enabling features.
